Just Launched - webcard

Darren Cleaver has recently set up his counselling service - Valley Counselling -and we have assisted his marketing efforts with an entry level webcard.

As a new business, Darren chose to go with one of our webcards for his online presense. This allows for him to expand his website in line with his businesses growth. Darren was great to work with because he knew what style of webcard he wanted, what his budget was and was prompt in getting his content organised.

If his commitment to finding a solution for his online marketing is reflected in his counselling services, he should be a very effective counsellor.

Youth is wasted on the young...?

We've recently done a series of campaigns for Clarence Valley Council 'department of youth' - am I showing my age here? Long live Alice Cooper.

We started off with the Aussie Style Photo comp. which is being judged this week (I wish I was under 25 so I could try to win the iPad on offer - Jess is the only one of us in the office who qualifies) and we followed up with a concept for the new pop-up cinema that is being launched this week - just in time for 'National Youth Week'. See the Gherkin website for the lowdown on the highlights.

Richie Williamson is the local Independent candidate for the seat of Clarence in the forthcoming NSW State Election.

Richie approached us to put together his campaign website (he's a firm believer in using local business to deliver the products and services he needs).

We were delighted to be able to put together our first political site. We've incorporated an 'Issues' page where constituants can nominate the issue that they perceive to be most important within the Clarence Electorate as well as a form for people to volunteer their time or donate some readies to the

The many forms of Java

WHILST typing away at some Java code or the likes, the Yoohoo Team like nothing less than to drink some hot Java - or coffee as is its non geeky name.

By the end of the day, we usually have a pretty impressive collection of cups next to the bin. We think building a house of cards is too soft - but builing one with coffee cups is much more hardcore !

What's especially good is that on Thursday it's the Farmers Markets, held in Market Square. You can snag some brain food bananas, beautifully bright flowers and bonza vegies. But what we really hang out for is some cake to enjoy with our coffee from This Little Piggy Bakes and Cakes - yum yum yum yum yum !

Call in and see us in our coffee crazed state at our Yoohoo Studio at 82 Victoria St, Grafton, or give us a call on (02) 6643 5188. For a handy email contact form, check out our Contact Page on this site.

Hope we see you at the next Markets !

Spring has Sprung

IT'S the season that we spend the most time outside, and here at Yoohoo we all agree that there's nothing nicer than a hot summers eve, a cool breeze, and sitting in a garden filled with flowers and herbs. When Sandy and Al came to us looking for a site for their new business Al's Garden Creations, it made us all want to get out in the garden !

You can check out their new site and be inspired yourselves at alsgardencreations.com.au

Crouching Dog, Hidden Cattle

THERE'S nothing like a great action shot. Something that makes you feel right in the middle of it all, but right on the edge all at the same time. That exactly describes the images we've been working with whilst building the NSW Working Stock Dog Association's new website.

It's amazing what these dogs can do.

The new site is full of information about how to get involved, upcoming and past events, current rankings and point scores, as well as the fantastic images of some very skilled dogs.

Christmas Camping EZY AS at EZY2TOW

AT EZY2TOW, they know how much you love to camp, but what they also know is how much preparing and stocking up your caravan before a holiday is a right pain in the sleeping bag. That's why they started EZY2TOW, a caravan hire business that makes your rig complete with everything folding chairs to wooden spoons. Yes, even the kitchen sink!

Their new site www.ezy2tow.com.au built by the Yoohoo Team has a full pricing chart, as well as some great points about why hiring can be much better than buying.

YOOHOO ON THE WORLD STAGE

THE team at Yoohoo got a lovely surprise when Bill O'Toole, an internationally renowned event consultant, contacted us. He asked if he could use a site we recently put together as an example of how to use the web effectively in marketing an event. Bill was the opening keynote speaker at the 55th International Festival and Events Association annual conference, which was held this year in St. Louis, Missouri, USA.

The website Bill used is the site we did for the Australian Goanna Championship at Wooli - www.goannapulling.com.au Not only was this a coup for Yoohoo, it was also a coup for the township of Wooli.

Having their website promoted to an audience of the worlds most effective event and festival professionals, the word about Wooli and its unique event will spread far and wide. This is a fabulous result for the Clarence Valley as a whole.

Make sure you get along to the Goanna Pulling Championship at Wooli on October 3rd for a great day of fun activities for young and old.

This weekend sees the 3rd annual Gate to Plate at the Grafton Showground. Yoohoo designed and developed the website for this fantastic event too. www.gatetoplate.com.au

The Gallery Foundation (yes, we did that website too - www.thegalleryfoundation.com.au)!, runs this successful event as a fundraiser and it has grown into an amazing celebration of local produce and cuisine.

The Gate to Plate lunch this year will be catering to 300 sit down diners, and the market day - which starts at 8:00 am on Sunday - has over 40 stalls full of fresh local produce, gourmet sausages, scrumptious sweet treats and useful items for the kitchen thanks to Kitchen Fusion and Kitchen to Table kitchen shops - that's a lot of kitchens in one sentence. LOL.

You can contact the team at Yoohoo on (02) 6643 5188 , www.yoohoo.com.au or drop into their studio at 82 Victoria St, Grafton.

A Koala out the back...

THE kids at Bright Sparks Child Care Centre feel right at home among the gumtrees with the Centre's Play Homestead. There's even a digging patch for them to get their thumbs green, not to mention the chook pen.

We all know that the Phone Book is out and Google Search is in, so by having a well-built website Bright Sparks have not only made themselves easily discoverable online, but they have also been able to provide a vast amount of important information for Parents, Guardians and Children that is now right at their fingertips.

Building the Bright Sparks website was a lot of fun for us here at Yoohoo, because we got to play around with some really bright colours and ceate a fun Flash logo with the Bright Sparks brand.

If you're a parent looking for more information on Bright Sparks, you can find everything you need and more at their new website – Their new site www.brightsparks.cc

YOOHOO from YOOHOO

LOTS of people have commented on our appearance in The Daily Examiner last Saturday, which is great; but one of the most referred to articles was our story about Jaz Grady, our code monkey - same thing as a grease monkey (mechanic) but someone who works on code, the stuff you don't see on a website but is there to make it all work. Sort of like the motor under the bonnet of your car.

Many people thought there was a typo in the story - And Jaz Grady, web development wiz says:

"hu%4*# CSS @**bhjkdsgf <?php?> cisulnjldkffew <javascript> HTML ^@34#?* where's my triple shot latte?"
- it wasn't a typo, but rather a joke. What it referred to is the type of code that we use in developing websites. We work primarily with HTML: Hyper Text Markup Language; and CSS: Cascading Style Sheets. We also implement some PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor and Javascript, both scripting languages to make your website more dynamic. We also use Flash as necessary.

On the design side of things, we primarily use the industry standard Adobe Creative Suite 5 (CS5) - and each of us have our favourite programmes within CS5.

Liza loves Fireworks for creating lovely light graphics for the web. Jess loves In Design for laying out all of her design work and Jaz loves Photoshop - as a cameraholic should.

You can contact the team at Yoohoo on (02) 6643 5188 , www.yoohoo.com.au or drop into their studio at 82 Victoria St, Grafton.

Hello, Tangelo !

GOANNA PULLING...WHAT THA ?

YOOHOO recently completed a project for the Australian National Goanna Pulling Championship based in Wooli.

It was a job completed on a very tight budget and a very tight timeline, but looks great and higlights not only the event, but also the natural beauty of Wooli and the activities, types of accommodation, places to eat and local businesses of the surrounding area.

This year the Wooli community will be celebrating 25 years of this colourful festival and a read through the history page of the website is quite an opener of how political correctness has asserted itself over the years. No more WET T-SHIRT COMPETITIONS !!!

Event websites are a great vehicle for thanking and promoting your sponsors by linking their logo or business name to their own websites. They really see a Return on Investment for their sponsorship dollar. Check out the brand new website at www.goannapulling.com.au

SKELETONS IN THE FAMILY CLOSET?

WHO knows? Well, Nola Mackay is the one to find out for you. Nola, a well known local historian, has recently made a foray into the online world with the launch of her new website to help local people find out more about their family history in the Clarence Valley and beyond.

Nola's new website - www.heritagepath.com.au - is just the place to find out about what your forbears got up to, how they arrived in Australia, and where they come from.

Nola has simple to download e-books of Births, Deaths and Marriages records, Convict arrivals, as well as many of the books she has written on local history, such as "A History of Eurpean Settlement on the North Coast" and "As Time Goes By - Grafton's Fascination with Time Pieces". Both available as hard copy books as well.

Say YOOHOO to good design

AT local design firm Yoohoo the team are passionate about great design.

Jessica Francis, a recently graduated Bachelor of Design student from Griffith University, now working at Yoohoo, says -

"I love the variety of projects that come across our desks at our Victoria St Studio. Everything from modern business branding, packaging design, advertising, magazines, menus, gift vouchers and invitations to illustrations and T-shirt graphics."
"Our team at Yoohoo can help you through the process of building a website from start to finish. We take care of domain registration & website hosting, right through to Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and social networking implementation".
"With our team of web designers and developers we are able to create a website that looks great and communicates with and engages your target audience" said Creative Director Liza Bloomer. "The beauty of the web is that you can find what you want, when you want. That is...as long as it's on the web in the first place".

And Jaz Grady, web development wiz says -

"hu%4*# CSS @**bhjkdsgf ?php? cisulnjldkffew javascript HTML ^@34#?* where's my triple shot latte?"

One of the best things about Yoohoo Web and Graphic Design is that they are local. The design needs of your business can be discussed over a cup of coffee in our office or yours.

BOUQUETS TO BOYD BUILDERS

THE CREW AT YOOHOO were over the moon when they read in the Daily Examiner that local construction firm Boyd Builders had taken out three titles in the prestigous 2010 HIA Housing Awards for Northern NSW.

Having recently designed and built a webcard for Vicki and Dennis Boyd we knew that having a web presense would really help Boyd Builders to consolidate the exposure they would receive after winning such prestigious awards.

The web card (www.boydbuilders.com.au) incorporates a gallery where both the construction and design excellence delivered by Boyd Builders is highlighted beautifully through the photos taken by another Yoohoo client, Simon Hughes (www.simonhughesphotography.com.au).
